INSURANCE MAPS

FIRM (Flood Insurance Rate Maps) RNW 368.122 UNITED ADA CO 2003

Firm maps are the official maps of communities on which FEMA has specifically identified both special hazard areas and risk premium zones. The purpose of the FIRM is to rate flood insurance policies through the National Flood Insurance Program. Based on hydrologic studies where engineers attempt to determine how high water might rise and how often it could reach such heights. The 100 year flood is a flood that hydrologic engineers estimate has a 1% chance of occurring in any given year. This is also known as the base flood.
